General Information
Telephone Standby:
All trial jurors (excluding Grand Jurors) are required to call the Commissioner of Jurors office at 778-2159 for final reporting instructions as to date, time and place. Specific instructions will be printed on your summons.
Parking:
Supreme and County Court jurors park at their own expense at Collier Street or State Street ramps($6.00 per day,$1.00 per hour). For vehicles over 6' parking is available at the parking lot adjacent to CVS on Hawley Street.
Absence/Emergency:
If you are unable to report at any time during your jury term due to illness or emergency, please telephone the Commissioner of Jurors at (607) 778-2159.
Court Hours:
Jury office hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Summer hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Court Security:
All jurors are required to pass through a metal detector and have their packages and purses inspected each time they enter the courthouse. Weapons and dangerous instruments are not permitted in the courthouse. Security officers will determine what is allowed in the courthouse and you may have to check items with security upon entering the courthouse.
Meals:
The courthouses are centrally located in the City of Binghamton and are accessible to many restaurants within a two or three block radius. Also, vending machines are available in most locations.Jurors selected to serve may bring a lunch. A refrigerator and microwave is available in the jury deliberating room.
Verification of Attendance:
A proof of service for your employer is part of the summons (Section C) you were sent. If you need this completed for your employer please ask the court clerk, court attendant or the jury staff to complete it when you are excused. If you get back to work and need one please call the office and one will be faxed to your employer.
