General Information
Telephone Standby (Except Grand Jurors):
The Juror Summons requests that prospective jurors call the Jury Commissioner's office the night before the reporting date for instructions including the date, time and place to report, and a reminder to complete the Juror Information Form attached to the summons. The telephone number is (607) 753-5011 for Supreme or County Court jurors, or (607) 428-5421 for City Court jurors.
Parking:
The parking lot may be entered from Greenbush St. or Port Watson St. You may also park on side streets.
Absence/Emergency:
In case of illness or emergency, telephone the Commissioner of Jurors office at 753-5011. Jurors serving in City Court can call 753-1811.
Court Hours:
Court House hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
City Court hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Court Security:
Jurors are required to pass through a metal detector as a security measure when entering the courthouse. Do not bring cameras, recorders, firearms, or metal objects.
Meals:
Several restaurants are available within walking distance. Beverages and snack machines are located in the basement of the courthouse.
Verification of Attendance:
Upon arrival at the courthouse, jurors report directly to the main courtroom, located on the second floor. Completed juror information forms are collected and attendance is taken by court personnel. An attendance verification form is required by some employers for payroll purposes and is available by request to the Clerk of the Court or the Commissioner of Jurors.
Jurors summoned to Cortland City Court report to courtroom on third floor of City Hall. Attendance verified as noted above.
