General Information
Telephone Standby:
All trial jurors are summoned for a specific date and instructed to call 1-800-815-3217 the night before the scheduled appearance date.
Parking:
From the North: Take Route 9 North to Elizabethtown. Proceed past the Government Center which will be on your left. Take the first left past Hubbard Hall which leads to the County Parking lot. Proceed to the front entrance of the new Courthouse.
From the South: Take Route 9 South to Elizabethtown. Proceed through the caution light to the top of the hill. Take a right at the top of the hill just before Hubbard Hall which leads to the County Parking Lot. Proceed to the front entrance of the new Courthouse.
Absence/Emergency:
If an illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call our office at (518) 873-3377 or (518) 873-3375 at 9:00 a.m. on the day you are to report.
Court Hours:
Courts generally operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch recess. There are brief recesses in the morning and afternoon sessions based upon the discretion of the Judge. Court sessions usually do not continue past 5:00 p.m. except when juries are deliberating for verdicts.
Court Security:
Prospective Jurors will be escorted through a magnetometer (metal detector) upon entering and prior to entry to the Jury Assembly Room. Weapons and other dangerous instruments are prohibited in the Court building. Orientation takes place in the Jury Assembly Room. Once Orientation is complete, prospective jurors will be escorted to the appropriate Court Room located on the second floor. We request everyone’s cooperation and patience in an effort to maintain the safety of all.
Recording Devices:
Devices with the ability to record audio, still images or video are NOT permitted in Court facilities. DO NOT BRING cell phones, pagers, computers, cameras, tape recorders and lap top computers.
Meals:
Meals are your own responsibility. Vending machines are located on the basement floor of the new Court House (near the Motor Vehicle Department) - snacks and soft drinks only. There are several eateries within walking distance. You are free to bring your own lunch. No food or beverage is allowed in Court Rooms.
Telephone Access:
Pay phones are located in the entranceway on the First Floor opposite the Security Desk. Sworn Jurors may ask a Court Officer for an available phone.
Verification of Attendance:
An attendance verification form is available to all Jurors and is required by some employers for payroll records.
