General Information
Please be aware: The New York State Court System does not ask prospective jurors for financial information such as credit card, bank account or personal information such as the names and ages of your family members. Do not provide this kind of information to anyone claiming to represent the court system. If you receive this type of request, please contact our office during normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 344-2550 Ext. 2223, or local law enforcement if you feel threatened.
Recording Devices:
Devices with the ability to record audio, still images or video, are not permitted in court facilities, except that the prohibition on cameras does not apply to cameras that are auxiliary features on cell phones. Stand alone cameras are still prohibited in courthouses.
All cell phones must be turned off during all court proceedings and during juror orientation. Camera functions on phones cannot be used at any time inside the building.
Jury Call In:
Information for summoned trial jurors is also available on our recorded message at 585-344-2550 Ext. 2296 beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the last business day before your service is to begin.
Parking:
Parking is available in the parking lots at the rear of the building and in surrounding parking areas.
Emergency:
If you are unable to report due to any emergency, or if an emergency requires that you be contacted during your service, please call the Commissioner of Jurors office at 585-344-2550 ext. 2223.
Court Hours:
Your hours each day will be approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with periodic breaks during the day.
Court Security:
All jurors must enter the Courts Facility through the main entrance which faces east onto the driveway. The Courts Facility opens at 8:30 a.m. You will be asked to pass through a metal detector. No weapons of any type are permitted in the building, cellular phones must be disabled in court and gentlemen are asked to remove their hats. Please dress in a manner that is respectful of the courts and your fellow jurors.
Meals:
Your meals during jury service are your own responsibility. There are many restaurants located in the downtown area. A refrigerator is provided in the jury assembly room. You may bring lunch if you choose. Food and beverage are permitted in the assembly room only. Vending machines with snacks and cold beverages are available on the 2nd floor.
Payphone:
A payphone is located in the lobby on the first floor.
