Daily Call-In Message

Reporting Instructions

Jurors who have been summoned should report to the location indicated on Part A of their jury summons. Also, please fill out all the information requested on the back of Part A and bring your entire summons with you.

 

General Information

Absence/Emergency:
If you anticipate being late for jury service or if illness prevents you from reporting, please notify your jury assembly room. Individual locations should be called between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. on the day you are scheduled to report.

Telephone/Standby:
Unless otherwise instructed jurors are expected to appear in person each day of service. Jurors who are selected for a trial that is awaiting a court date will be instructed regarding telephone call-in procedures.

Court Hours:
Court hours are generally 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as directed by the court. Jurors have lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those jurors who are selected for a trial, will have their lunch hours determined by the judge for that case.

Court Security:
Court buildings are open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Weapons or dangerous instruments of any kind are prohibited from court buildings. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated in this effort to keep our facilities safe.

Food/Meals/Sequestration:
Lunch and dinner are furnished to deliberating jurors as required. Overnight sequestration is extremely rare. Full instructions will be given to you if you are to be sequestered. All other meals are your own responsibility.

Dress Code:
While no formal code exists, jurors are requested to dress in a manner respectful to the court.

Smoking Area:
Smoking is prohibited in all New York courthouses and juror facilities. Thank you for adhering to these laws and for your sensitivity to your fellow jurors.

Phone Access:
All juror facilities are equipped with pay phones. If you are not familiar with the locations of pay phones in your jury assembly room, please ask your jury clerk.

Cellular Phones:
Cellular phones are allowed in all assembly room locations in designated areas where use of the phones do not disturb your fellow jurors/ Cellular phone usage is prohibited in courtrooms and jury deliberation rooms.
NOTE: Cellular phones with camera capabilites are not allowed in court facilities.

Parking:
The court does not supply parking for jurors.

Transportation Costs:
There is no reimbursement to jurors for transportation costs.

Juror Pay/Payroll Information:
See the Juror's Handbook for a detailed explanation of your jury fee. Jurors will receive the jury fee in, approximately 4 weeks. If you have a question regarding payment of your jury fee please call: (646)386-5982.

Verification of Attendance:
Jurors are required to check in with the jury assembly room clerk each day upon arrival. Please listen to and follow your attendance instructions as they are announced each day. If your arrival is delayed, please notify the jury assembly room clerk upon arrival. Proof of service will be distributed upon your completion of jury service.
