General Information
Recording Devices:
Devices with the ability to record audio, still images, or videos are NOT permitted to be used in the court facilities, and will be confiscated if necessary.
Telephone Standby:
All trial jurors are on standby and should report to the Orleans County Courthouse only when instructed to do so by means of a recorded message. Please report at the time indicated in the message. The jurors' standby telephone number is 589-7106.
Parking:
The Court parking lot is located on East Park Street. You may park along the streets in appropriate spaces. Observe the signs for areas which prohibit parking.
Absence/Emergency:
If an illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call our office at 589-7106 immediately. If you are reporting an emergency absence after 4:30 p.m. on the last day prior to your court date, please leave a voice mail by calling 589-4457.
Court Hours:
Courts normally operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch recess and breaks throughout the day.
Court Security:
The East State Street entrance to the building will be open to jurors by 8:30 a.m. Magnetometers are located on the main floor of the courthouse. Weapons or dangerous instruments of any kind are prohibited in court buildings.
Meals:
Meals are supplied during deliberation only. At all other times jurors are responsible for their own meals. No food or drink except water is allowed in the courtroom.
Verification of Attendance:
Jurors are required to complete the sign-in sheet located at the courtroom entrance. An attendance verification form is available to all jurors and is required by most employers for payroll purposes.
