REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE WEEK OF August 2, 2010

1.....If your juror number is 1 through and including 91 you are to report on Monday, August 2, at 9:00 a.m. to the Ceremonial Courtroom located on the first floor of the Rensselaer County Courthouse.

The courthouse is located on Congress & Second Streets in downtown Troy. The main entrance for the courthouse is located on Second Street, it is the only public entrance to the courthouse. There is a security check at the entrance similar to those in airports, please leave enough time to pass through security and still be on time for court. Courthouse doors will open at 8:30 a.m.

All reporting jurors please bring your summons and a pen with you.

There are no parking lots available for jurors please park legally on street in any two-hour parking space, South of Congress Street. Some streets in downtown Troy require payment to park. DO NOT park in an any area that has signs that say you must pay to park. Also, if you park south of Ferry Street there are no parking restriction Monday thru Thursday. Please display the parking permit, supplied with your summons, on your dashboard. The courts are not allowed to take any tickets for illegal or overtime parking.

***VERY IMPORTANT***

If your juror number was not called for you to report on Monday, August 2, you are instructed to check this web site again on Monday evening after 5:00 p.m. (Please do not check before 5 p.m.) to receive your message regarding jury selection for Tuesday. We still have trials scheduled this week so it is important that continue to receive your messages.

General Information

Telephone Standby:
All trial jurors are on standby and report to the Rensselaer County Courthouse only when instructed to do so by means of a recorded message. The recorded message will refer to you by juror number. Please report promptly at the time indicated in the message. The telephone call-in number is: (518) 285-6123.

Parking:
There are no parking lots available to jurors. You may park in appropriate spaces along the streets from Ferry Street south. Observe the signs for areas which prohibit parking. (Street Cleaning on Fridays) Tickets for overtime: The City of Troy has certain specified procedures to be followed by parking ticket recipients seeking to protest their tickets, which is specified on the face of the tickets and is accessible through the website www.troyny.gov. There is only a fourteen (14) day period to protest a parking violation.

Absence/Emergency:
If an illness or emergency prevents you from reporting, please call our office at 285-6123 at 8:30 a.m. on the day you are to report.

Court Hours:
Court normally operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day.

Wi-Fi:
Wi-Fi service is available in our Jury Assembly Room.

Court Security:
The main entrance on Second Street open at 8:30 a.m. Magnetometers are in place in the courthouse, and jurors are not exempted from the screening process. Weapons or dangerous instruments of any kind are prohibited in court buildings. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated in this effort to keep our facility safe.

Meals:
Lunch and/or dinner is furnished to deliberating jurors. All other meals are your own responsibility. There are restaurants and fast food establishments within a mile of the courthouse. You are free to bring your own lunch. No food or drink is allowed in the courtrooms.

Verification of Attendance:
An attendance verification form is available to all jurors and is required by most employers for payroll records. It is your responsibility to have one signed daily.
