General Information
Telephone Standby:
All trial jurors are on “standby” and report to the Seneca County Courthouse only when instructed to do so by means of a recorded message. The directions on the message will advise if and when you will be required to report. The telephone numbers to call for reporting instructions are 315-539-7225 or 315-539-7226.
Parking:
Parking is available in the VFW parking lot behind the courthouse.
Absence/Emergency:
If you are unable to report at any time during your jury term due to illness or emergency, please telephone our office at 315-539-7225 or the Supreme and County Court office at 315-539-7021 as soon after 9:00 a.m. as possible.
Court Hours:
Court normally operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch hour and breaks throughout the day. Court sessions do not often continue beyond 5:00 p.m., except when juries are deliberating.
Court Security:
Entry to the courthouse begins at 8:00 a.m. Weapons of any kind and all sharp or dangerous instruments, including scissors and pocket knives, are prohibited in court buildings. Jurors are not exempt from magnetometer screening and your cooperation and patience is appreciated.
Meals:
A soda and snack machine are located in the Family Court waiting room. Drinks and food are prohibited in the courtroom. There are restaurants located near the courthouse. Meals are your responsibility.
Verification of Attendance:
Jurors are required to report to the Court Attendant upon arrival to the courtroom where attendance verification will be noted. An attendance verification form is available to all jurors and is required by most employers for payroll purposes. The verification form is distributed by the staff.
