General Information

Telephone Standby:
Pursuant to specific instructions on the Summons, all trial jurors (excluding Grand Jurors) are required to call the Jury Commissioner at 277-4859 for final reporting instructions as to date, time and place.

Parking:
Parking is provided free of charge for jurors only at the parking garage located at the corners of North Tioga and Seneca Streets. Jurors who do not park at this garage will not be reimbursed for their expenses.

Absence/Emergency:
If an emergency prevents you from reporting, please call our office at 277-4859 at 9:00 a.m. on the day you are instructed to report. If it is necessary to cancel court because of an emergency or inclement weather, local radio stations will make the cancellation announcement.

Court Hours:
Court normally operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one hour lunch break and brief recesses throughout a trial day.

Court Security:
Jurors may be required to go through a metal detector upon entering the courthouse as a security measure. Metal objects carried or on one's person should be limited. Weapons and dangerous instruments are prohibited. Carried items will be subjected to inspection by means of an X-ray machine.

Meals:
The courthouses are centrally located in the City of Ithaca, accessible to many restaurants and eateries within a 2 or 3 block radius. You may also bring your lunch. Food and drink are not permitted in the courtroom.

Verification of attendance:
Jurors report directly to the appointed courtroom where attendance is taken and the completed Juror Information forms are collected.
