General Information
Telephone Standby:
Your summons indicates the date your jury term of service starts. The term usually starts on a Monday, and jurors are on call for one week. Jurors are instructed to call after 6:00 PM. on Friday evening or anytime over the weekend prior to your term date. The jurors will continue to call a recorded message each evening after 6:00 PM to find out if their services will be required the following day. The number to call is located on the face of the summons.
Parking:
The jurors parking entrance is located directly across from the courthouse on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd.. For security reasons, the court officer will be stationed at the gate and will request to see your summons before allowing you in the jurors parking area. Jurors are advised to report early to be sure parking is available. If the jurors parking lot is full or you choose not to park there, it is your responsibility to park in metered parking areas. There are long term parking meters (8-12 hours) located in the lower level of the Library or the top level of the Galleria. If you park at a metered parking spot, it is at your expense. Please bring quarters in the event you do need to park at a metered spot. Never park at a meter designated for permit parking. It will result in a $25 to $35 ticket. If handicapped parking space is required, please call (914) 824-5600, in advance, for instructions.
Absence/Emergency:
You may call (914) 824-5600 in case of emergency between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, please listen to your local radio stations, WVIP, WLNA, WVOX, etc. for cancellations or court delays. You may also call the number on your summons for the recorded message after 7:30 a.m. The message will then indicate any cancellation or delay.
Court Hours:
The Commissioner of Jurors office is open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Jurors in selection or on trial are usually excused by 4:30 p.m.
Court Security:
The main entrance on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. opens at 8:00 a.m. Magnetometers are in place in the courthouse lobby and on the 2nd floor of the County building. Jurors are not excluded from the screening process. Weapons or dangerous instruments of any kind are prohibited in the court building and beepers and cellular phones are discouraged. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated in this effort to keep our facility safe.
Meals:
There are vending machines for coffee, bagels, sandwiches, etc. located in the jurors lounge. There are many restaurants within walking distance on Main Street, Martine and Mamaroneck Avenues. The Galleria is located right across the street in which the food court offers a variety of foods.
Verification of attendance:
Upon request jurors may obtain a certificate of service as attendance verification for their employer.
