We care about the needs of all of our
jurors.  Jurors with a disability are
encouraged to serve and to contact the
Monroe Jury Office before reporting
with your questions or concerns.
You can telephone us a 585-428-5370 or use the email link in this
web site. We have extensive experience with the New York
State Relay Service.

The following is intended to address the most common
experiences we have had assisting jurors with disabilities, so
contact us by telephone, web or in person, if your concern is not
included. Telephone 585-428-5370, web email at
http://monroe.nyjuror.gov or by writing to Monroe Jury Office,
29 Hall of Justice, Rochester NY 14614.

1.) Deaf Jurors - We are proud of the record of participation of
the deaf as jurors in the State Courts in Monroe County.

Contact us ahead - We ask that every juror who needs the assistance of an ASL interpreter contact the jury office as soon as
you receive your summons. We will need lead time to arrange for
an interpreter which could require a change in your date of service.

After we have confirmed arrangements a special jury summons
will be generated by our computer system and mailed to you
about 4 weeks prior to your date of service.

2.) Hard of Hearing - Assistive Listening

For persons who need assistive listening devices we have both a pocket talker which provides amplification and infra-red
systems in some courtrooms. We suggest you contact us ahead to
determine compatibility.

3.) Handicapped Parking

The best locations for handicapped parking access are found on the lower level of the Civic Center parking garage.

The photo on the right shows the spaces  nearest to the elevator on the lower level.  You will find 8 spaces in this area. Enter  through the doors to gain access to the  elevator to the Plaza level.

Handicapped parking Do’s & Don’ts:
- Don’t park at the meters in front of the
Hall of Justice on Exchange Blvd.
They have a 2 hour limit, we advise all jurors
that they should plan on staying with us for the
entire day. Usually 9 AM - 5 PM.

All jurors must pass through security screening upon entry into the Hall of Justice.
Usually, items which could be considered weapons such as knives, metal tools, utensils, or glass bottles are not allowed into the
building. If you need to have an item such as hypodermic needle
or any other special medical device or accessory, please contact
the Jury Office in advance so we can facilitate security clearance
of your special item.
If you did not park in the Civic Center or you were entering from Exchange Boulevard there is a different path.

A Reminder

We suggest that you not park at these handicapped meters adjacent to the outdoor ramp since they have a 2 hour limit and jurors are expected to stay for the entire day.
